This past weekend, the Salmon River in Pulaski, NY received a good run of King Salmon due to the increased flows on Saturday and Sunday (750cfs). Many anglers were able to hook up with quite a few fish, but at this time of the year landing these fish is another story. These fish are fresh out of the lake and full of energy due to the lower than usual water temperatures. The main group that ran during the weekend is now spread throughout the entire river from Altmar down to Pulaski. With that being said, the most consistent place that anglers have been hooking up at has been the Ball Park. Look for fresh fish to trickle in daily as there is nothing stopping new fish from entering the river. Low night and day time temperatures will slowly drop the water temperature even more, making it all the more likely for more fish to enter the river. Once the sun hits the water during the day, look for pools and holes that are shaded. Hang on tight, its only going to get better from here on out!
Be safe on the river and tight lines!
